Description This workshop will explore a range of innovative practices to support and engage students with SEN in their English language lessons.
Objectives:
To identify special educational needs in mainstream schools;
To introduce the whole school approach and how it supports an inclusive classroom;
To highlight the importance of conducting pre-assessment with your students and using that data to develop class profiles;
To introduce the RTI model as an approach to differentiating English learning experiences for students with SEN;
To introduce and understand the use of Applied Behaviour Analyses (ABA) to reinforce positive behaviour to support students with SEN;
To share practical strategies and resources for the development of a supportive learning environment including learning tools to engage and motivate students with SEN to learn English; and
To provide opportunities for participants to reflect on and share experiences about supporting their students with SEN in the English classroom.

Participants are encouraged to share an example of a current challenge or issue related to students with SEN in their English lessons.
