explore the use of e-learning tools and multimedia applications in their preparation and delivery of a speech/presentation; and
consider different assessment strategies when promoting effective oral communication skills.
In this workshop, the participants will:
This is a 6-hour blended workshop made up of three parts.
1) Part I is the pre-workshop component with learning material accessible to the participants on the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). They will learn about (1) the basic principles of differentiation; and (2) models for oral communication. The activities in this session take roughly 2.5 hours to complete. Part I is a pre-requisite to joining Part II.
2) Part II is a 2.5-hour face-to-face or Zoom workshop, in which participants will revisit the ideas introduced in Session 1, apply them in English language learning and teaching, and experience a range of speaking activities which cater for diverse student ability levels. If the face-to-face mode is adopted, this component of the workshop will take place in the NET Section, Rm 1120, 11/F, Tsuen Wan Multi-storey Carpark Building, 174-208 Castle Peak Rd, Tsuen Wan, New Territories.
3) In Part III, the participants will explore the use of various e-learning tools and multimedia applications in completing individual tasks on the Canvas LMS. The activities in this session take roughly 1 hour to complete.
Participants are required to complete ALL three parts to earn the 6 CPD hours.
Participants will be sent the Canvas code on 5 March 2021 for Event AA and on 17 June 2021 for Event AB.
This workshop will provide the participants with the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills to design learning activities that support the development of effective oral communication skills.
It is strongly recommended that you participate in the Part II Zoom session in a quiet room with a strong WiFi connection and with a laptop that has a built-in camera and microphone.
