Description
This cluster meeting will share a range of innovative practices to support and engage students with SEN in their English language lessons. In this cluster meeting, participants will:

Objectives:
  • learn to identify special educational needs in mainstream schools;
  • discuss an inclusive classroom and see how the whole school approach supports implementing inclusion;
  • share the importance of conducting pre-assessment with your students and using that data to develop class profiles;
  • be introduced to the RTI model as an approach to differentiating English learning experiences for students with SEN;
  • be introduced to the Applied Behaviour Analyses (ABA) and understand how to use it to reinforce positive behaviour to support students with SEN;
  • share practical strategies and resources about a supportive learning environment including learning tools to engage and motivate students with SEN to learn English; and
  • be provided opportunities to reflect on and share experiences about their students with SEN in the English classroom.


  • Remarks
    Participants are encouraged to share an example of a current challenge or issue related to students with SEN in their English lessons.
