This introductory workshop is designed for teachers interested in using public speaking as a vehicle to develop students’ English abilities. The event is made up of two components.

  • The Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) component, during which participants complete a series of modules within a 15-day period (from 11 November to 26 November 2021) to familiarise themselves with some of the elements of public speaking, how it can be used in participation of the Time to Talk Public Speaking competition and the various ways it can be assessed.
  • The Face-to-Face component (26 November 2021) will give participants the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and share ideas related to public speaking in the English language curriculum by engaging in activities which highlight skills paramount to the development of good public speakers.

  • explore ways in which the teaching of public speaking addresses the themed modules of the English language curriculum and,
  • share practical ideas which consolidate student learning.
