The Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood Education) [PGDE (ECE)] aims to allow practising untrained early childhood teachers holding a recognised degree to achieve competence and confidence in working in early childhood education settings. Upon completion of the programme, graduates will be knowledgeable, competent, reflective professionals. They will demonstrate the knowledge, understandings and dispositions required to design, implement and assess quality programmes for infants, toddlers and young children in care and education settings. Emphasis is on helping graduates develop a firm grasp of the interrelationship between theory and the practice of teaching.
