Description The aims and objectives of this programme are designed to help the participants:
The programme is designed for in-service teachers in Hong Kong kindergartens. Upon completion of the programme,
participants are expected to demonstrate an understanding of play theories, especially through learning local and global
practices. The programme will also provide an opportunity for participants to practice skills for conducting successful play activities in their classrooms and to integrate play practices into their pedagogies to embrace children’s characteristics and diverse needs.
1. identifying the definitions, perspectives and diversity of play;
2. explaining the role and importance of play in the early childhood education;
3. employing different play pedagogies and play theories in designing playtime and observing children’s play behaviours; and
4. evaluating and reflect upon the appropriateness and effectiveness of different play pedagogies.
