This course is designed for educators working in secondary school settings.

This course aims to introduce you to the concept and value of Service-Learning, and to equip you with the basic knowledge, attitudes and skills required for planning and implementing a Service-Learning project effectively. It consists of an Introduction, 6 instructional units, and End-of-Unit Tests. You will be awarded a Certificate of Completion upon successfully completing all the requirements of the course.

The Education Bureau (EDB) welcomed the announcement by the Ministry of Education on the detailed arrangements of the Scheme for Admission of Hong Kong Students to Mainland Higher Education Institutions (Admission Scheme) for the 2023/24 academic year. The number of Mainland higher education institutions participating in the Admission Scheme will increase to 132, coming from 21 provinces/municipalities and one autonomous region of the Mainland.

Introduction of Gifted Education in Hong Kong - To stretch and nurture gifted students with appropriate learning opportunities and challenges, the Education Bureau stated in the Education Commission Report No.4 that Hong Kong should develop school-based programmes in mainstream schools, which was affirmed by the positive outcomes of the research and projects conducted thereafter. The report, as a milestone, initiated the development and implementation of gifted education in Hong Kong. The mission of gifted education is to encourage mainstream schools to nourish gifted / high ability students through school-based gifted development programmes to meet their educational needs. On-site and off-school support is provided to schools in facilitating them to foster the multiple potentials of the gifted.

Professional Ladder for Teachers - The Professional Ladder for Teachers in Hong Kong is established with an aim to promote teachers’ professional growth and enhance teachers’ professional status. It adopts the professional roles of teachers and principals as portrayed in the “T-standard+” as the goals for teachers’ professional development, and the three core elements of teachers’ professional growth (including professional competencies; professional values and conduct; and aspiration for self-advancement through self-reflection) as its foundation. The Professional Ladder for Teachers in Hong Kong is established with an aim to promote teachers’ professional growth and enhance teachers’ professional status.
