Description
This workshop is designed with the dual objectives of providing teachers and students with opportunities to:
  • experience aspects of film appreciation;
  • experience aspects of filmmaking; and

  • for teachers to observe and assist students as they participate in film appreciation and filmmaking activities that could then be implemented in their respective schools (integrated into the General English programme, offered as a co-curricular activity and/or as preparation for students entering Filmit 2020: A Student Film Competition.)

    This workshop follows a ‘train the trainer’ model.

    In the workshop, ‘student film ambassadors’ will:
  • learn about film as an art form;
  • enhance their English language skills through using English in film-related contexts;
  • learn about the craft and techniques involved in the filmmaking process;
  • learn about storyboarding;
  • conduct an on-location film shoot; and
  • gain an awareness of the film editing process.

  • In the workshop, participating teachers will:
  • observe and assist ‘student film ambassadors’ as they:

  • - experience aspects of film appreciation;
    - learn the craft and some techniques involved in the filmmaking process.

    Remarks
  • As this workshop follows a ‘train the trainer model’, teachers who attended previous years’ sessions will be considered only after places are allocated to teachers new to the competition.
  • Teachers should bring at least one, but no more than four, student ‘film ambassadors’ interested in film and filmmaking to the workshop. Please enter the names of the participating students in the designated space (i.e. Q.1*)
  • At the workshop, participants will receive information about the NET Section’s Filmit 2020: A Student Film Competition.
  • For more information on the competition, please visit https://nets.edb.hkedcity.net/page.php?p=316
  • Participants should provide their personal email address at the time of registration for the NET Section to communicate with them prior to the workshop.
